Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American singer, actress and writer. Sara Ramirez was brought up by an American mother, and faced a lot racial taunts that caused her to feel uncomfortable. In her 9th grade that she gained confidence following her acclaim in an audition. The experience not only increased her confidence, but it also changed the direction she pursued in her career. In 1992, she earned her diploma from the New York's Julliard School. She was 23 when she had her first Broadway show with Paul Simon's The Capeman, and her debut in the film You've got Mail, were her biggest breaks. Her most memorable break came from her role as The Lady of The Lake, in the original Broadway version of Spamalot. She was awarded the Tony Award and received great appreciation for her performance. Later in the same year she was cast in the ABC show Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider appreciation for her performance. In addition to having a cult following as a singer, she has released two solo albums as well as an extended version. In addition, she's an activist who works hard to protect LGBT rights.
